What other people may find in poetry or art museums, I find in the flight of a good drive. – Arnold Palmer

What better way to celebrate an early Father’s Day…(considering we’ll be on the beach sipping on drinks with little umbrellas in them during the real Father’s day weekend) than to take him to a golf exhibit, cleverly named The Art of Golf, at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta!

We came up with the exciting suggestion to make a day of it and spend the other time wandering Midtown & surrounding areas downtown! We went to lunch at Steamhouse Lounge on West Peachtree Street – which was, and always is, EXCELLENT, if I must say so myself. I failed to take a #foodporn picture…I know, I know, must get better at that aspect. We did, however, take pictures of usJ. Here are a few!!

After scouring the surrounding blocks for parking, we finally parked to head into the High. We made it up to the correct floor for the Art of Golf exhibit and looked around for a good hour. In the beginning, there were only two small rooms to which we were obviously thinking, “Hmm…..not a big exhibit…kind of a letdown….” The day before, a New York Photography exhibit had opened so we went through that which led to a Southern Life Photography exhibit and by then, it was only an hour before the museum closed. Well…There are two buildings that make up the High Museum. We walked out of the museum and discovered that the other building was the ENTIRE Art of Golf exhibit. DUH! (In our defense, we asked and were pointed to where the exhibit was and were not told it was more than one level)...

Anyhow, we quickly went through the other level of the exhibit and were able to finish looking around and got out before the museum closed! WHEW!

We made the executive decision to try out this new bar around the corner, Tap Gastro Pub. Mom and I went for the milk chocolate crème brulee (which was to die for – definitely satisfied my craving of crème brulee lately). Another AWESOME perk to this bar was that it had Jailhouse Brewery’s Slammer Wheat beer on tap!! NOM NOM NOM!

We finished at the gastro pub and went ahead down to Cypress Street Pint & Plate (they were supposed to have a block party the whole day but had to be cancelled due to Mother Nature’s bad weather timing) but we just ate there to try it out anyways!! It was delicious…yet again a fail on my part with a #foodporn picture!

Until next time, Au Revoir!
